Adding Annotations to Youtube Videos

 

1.       Log in to account that has video you wish to annotate.

2.       Click video you wish to annotate so as to play the video.

3.       Beneath the video is a row of Icons and text buttons

4.       Click the annotation icon, currently the 4thbutton from the left, shaped as a speech bubble.

5.       This will bring you to the annotation management page.

6.       Using the timeline marker, find where you wish to add your annotation.

7.       To the right of the video, click “Add annotation”.

8.       Select the appropriate type for your needs. (Spotlight is often used for subscribe and watch another video links.)

9.       Set a beginning and end point of your annotation using the timeline management tool below the video.

10.   Scale the spotlight annotation to cover the area of the screen relevant to your annotation.

11.   Click the Link checkbox, selecting to the right if the link is to another video, user, etc.

12.   Add the appropriate destination link for the annotation you are adding.

13.   Select whether the link should open in a new window or not. (Subscriptions in a new window, another video suggestion at the end should replace the current video.)

14.   Repeat steps 6-13 for each subsequent annotation needed.

15.   Once completed, click Apply changes to save the annotations to your video.
